It is primarily for entrepreneurs planning a startup or businesses that have recently started and need general basic business advice. The subject matter discussed includes how to set up the business enterprise – licensing, registration, zoning and entity (proprietorship, partnership and corporation). Development and need for a business plan and lender’s requirements for financing including credit scores are taught. It is a program that will leave participants understanding the requirements for planning and starting a business, the effort required to run a business, researching competitors, capturing operating costs and having an idea of startup cash and costs.
Marketing on a Mini Budget: The workshop concentrates on methods of marketing in today’s competitive and fragmented market where reaching potential customers can be expensive and offer marginal returns. The program is targeted to groups of small businesses that have limited marketing funds and need to grow their customer and sales base. The take away of this program is to understand the various avenues for reaching customers and the most efficient return for the on the investment.
Leadership and Management Skills: This is a human resource workshop targeted to existing businesses. The subject matter is communicating with and motivating employees. The majority of small businesses struggle with managing and developing employees. The program demonstrates the need for all employees in a business to be customer focused, to understand the business goals, to know the requirements of the position and to understand the mission and vision. There are a number of ways to motivate employees to behave and function to achieve the desired outcomes. Upon completion of the course, the business owner has motivational and communication tools to put in place for optimization of their respective human resources.
Financial Management: This program is a more in depth review of financial management for the existing business or serious entrepreneur in the pre startup mode. The class focuses on Profit and Loss Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and Return on Investment and detailed discussion on expenses, startup costs, cash cycles, granting and receiving credit, pricing, inventory, asset acquisition and financing options. The outcome is a client that has a much broader understanding of the financial requirements for operating a business and being profitable.
